Have you ever come across thoughts such as: “I’ll be happy when I receive that job offer,” “I’ll be happy once I finally find my soul mate,” or “I’ll be happy once I’m making more money.”
If so, you’re not alone. However, these type of thoughts can be damaging and prevent you from achieving true happiness and success in the present moment. If you believe that you cannot attain happiness until something monumental happens or you become different - that is a limiting belief.
The thing about limiting beliefs is that oftentimes, they form in our subconscious minds and are buried deep inside. These limiting beliefs can be damaging and they hold many people back from achieving success and happiness.
So one of the ways to rid yourself of limiting beliefs is to shift your mindset into one of abundance and prosperity. Though it may not be easy at first, it’s very important to do this if you’re looking to experience true freedom in your life so you can achieve your goals.
And today, I’d like to share with you a very effective technique that will help you shift into an abundance mentality: Creative Visualization.
If you’re ready to invite more abundance and prosperity into your life, here are 5 simple steps you can use to harness the power of visualization:
Step 1. Get clear on what you want
The first step to getting to where you want to be in life is to know what it is that you actually want. It sounds very simple, yet many people fail at it because they’re not really clear on this crucial step. If this sounds like you and you’re feeling confused or overwhelmed with having too many goals and don’t know where to start, write down all the things that you want, and then choose the one that’s MOST important right now.
Many people choose to start with the smaller or easiest goals and then work up to the more challenging ones.
Step 2. Visualize
Now that you’re clear on what you want, you’ll need a focused and relaxed mind. Rather than stressing about clearing your mind from every thought, just breath deeply, relax your body and work your way up to your head. Once you feel at ease, visualize the object that you want, but most importantly, imagine how you would feel having it.
By practicing visualization and picturing the things that you want to see or do in your everyday life, you’ll be able to recreate the images and emotions in more detail. (Quick tip - try visualizing not only how it looks and feels, but also what sensations it gives you and what it smells like, and do it in as much detail as possible.)

Step 3. Use affirmations
By now you probably know that affirmations are short positive statements so powerful that when you say them, they help you create your reality. In fact, affirmations can actually make you conscious of your thoughts. Use your goals to write your affirmations. Remember to write them in the present tense and start with the words ‘I AM’.
Step 4. Practice positive thinking
Whenever you notice negative thoughts arising when visualizing, don’t resist them, just acknowledge them and be grateful for them as they float away. This is a good way to notice them without giving them more power.

Step 5. Add emotion
If you struggle at adding emotion to your visualizations, start by thinking about a moment where you experienced some sort of success or happiness in the past. Remind yourself of that success and relive it in your imagination. Visualize the experience or event as clearly as you can, and let the positive feeling you experienced at that time to come alive again.
