Inside Mind Movies: Our Favorite Habits for Happiness

As a personal growth teacher, people often ask me…

“Natalie, how can I be happy all the time

“Why can’t I feel happy everyday - despite so much inner work and personal growth efforts?”

Well, the truth is that we all strive for everlasting happiness - but what we should be striving for is maintaining a higher vibration or fulfillment or even happiness most of the time.

There will always be things outside of our control that, unfortunately, will challenge our happiness (i.e. the loss of a relationships, troubles at work, threats to our health).

These type of events can trigger negative emotional responses, and can even be a result of deeper limiting beliefs!

So honoring your emotions is as important as maintaining a high vibration.

The secret lies in what we do every day -  our conscious decisions and habits for happiness that will make us feel fulfilled, peaceful and satisfied.

When people ask me how to increase their happiness, I often tell them to make a list of all the activities, things, people, etc. that make them feel joy and put them in a higher vibration.

Just think about the little things you do everyday that bring you that joy - from drinking your coffee in the morning, or listening to your favorite music on your commute to work.

You suddenly realize that there may be a few more things you like about your job, about your family, or about your life in general.

And oftentimes the things that brings us more and real fulfillment have nothing or little to do with material things or money.

Regardless of our challenges and situations around us, there are some habits for happiness that once you incorporate them consistently at work and in your personal life, you’ll feel happy regularly.

Here are 3 of our favorite ones:

1. Success habits for life:

Gratitude

Can you think of 30 things you’re grateful for right now?

When I ask this question to my USM students, sometimes they think 30 is too much, but you’d be surprised of how many more things you’re blessed to have in your life once you get started.

So make a list each night as part of your night daily rituals and you’ll go to bed with a different perspective.

Kindness

Is there someone in your life that may need your help? Most of the times we think about ourselves, what we want, our pain, our needs, but how often do you reach out to your family and friends and offer your support?

If you can make someone’s life easier today, you’ll find more purpose and happiness in your own.

2. Healthy habits at home:

Meditation

When you wake up in the morning, try noticing your breath, your body, and remain still for a couple of minutes. Set an intention for the day while you have your eyes closed and you’ll find it easier to achieve your goals day by day rather than monthly or yearly.

Mindful Eating

Oftentimes eating mindfully is not realistic for many people, especially with jobs, families, and so many distractions around us. However, mindful eating is not just about eating slowly.

Even by choosing to eat when we’re truly hungry we’re already making a conscious decision vs mindlessly binging. This is how mindfulness becomes truly powerful as it breaks a negative cycle and a new positive healthy habit is created instead.

Exercise

We all know that exercise is good for us, yet not everyone does it. The key here is to find an activity that you enjoy.

Do you like spending time in nature? Then maybe a hike or a walk by the beach may motivate you more than just hitting the gym.

Even if you do it a few minutes a day, by doing it consistently you’ll be forming a habit, that later could become a 1 hour workout without you noticing it.

3. Happiness habits at work:

At Mind Movies we take our happiness habits very seriously ;-) and we believe this is what oftentimes gets us through a hard day of work.

For example, we have a “bring your dog to work day” the whole year - so we can pet and play with our furry friends whenever we need a break; and this makes our days so much brighter and we feel so much happier at work.

- We also have super healthy and fun snacks to recharge us
- Stand up desks for posture
- Team bonding events after work
- A place to relax, and decompress that we like to call “the jungle” because it literally looks like one!
- And we also have a gratitude wall, which is where we have letters from grateful members from the community, that helps us reflect, and feel grateful for life as well.

As you can see, dedicating 1 minute of your time a day to be or feel happy can create a long lasting happiness habit for years to come.

So what about you? Are you practicing any of these already? If not, which one will you start first?

And before I go, I have a really cool tool that can help you instantly raise your vibration so you can amplify your creation power and manifest more abundance in your life.

It’s a Visualization Exercise and it’s completely free for the Mind Movies community. Go ahead and download it here.
