How To Be More Humble

How to be More Humble

Being humble is an incredibly admirable quality that can be hard to find. When you encounter a humble person, who's modest and has a caring attitude towards others, you can feel their kind, selfless energy.

How can you inject more humility into your daily being?

Here are 4 simple tips to help you do just that:

Tip #1: Give Up the Need to Be Right

When you don't see eye-to-eye with another person on a particular situation or topic, why not just agree to disagree?

Instead of needing to be right or wanting the other person to admit you're right about something, just let it go. Let the need to be right just roll off your shoulders. This will give you a sense of freedom around the situation, plus others will admire and respect your humility.

Tip #2 Really Listen to Others

Don't just go through the motions of being a good listener - when someone is pouring their heart out to you, really do your best to listen to them!

Turn off your computer, phone, TV or any other distraction and give them 100% of your attention. In turn, they will appreciate your attentiveness and will think of you fondly and appreciate your kindness.

Tip #3: Be Mindful

Try to be thoughtful and considerate of those who are close to you, but also to people who you may not know so well. Keep in mind that you can make an impact on another person, whether big or small, with each encounter you have throughout your day.

Hold the door open for others, greet others with a warm smile and simply be kind to everyone you come into contact with. Taking others into consideration more often is a great way to inject more humility into your life.

Tip #4: Keep a Secret

If someone confides in you and asks you to keep what they share with you private, honor that. You don't have to tell your partner or your best friend. Being someone who keeps their word will give you credibility and others will trust you more.

Being trustworthy builds humility because others know that no matter what, their secret is safe with you and that you stay true to your word.

Humility can be a difficult concept to infuse into your being, but if you do your best to always act with kindness, not make negative assumptions and choose to believe the good in people, then you will be on your way to being a more humble person.
