Episode # 193 Healing With The Masters

Natalie: Today on the show I'm speaking with Jennifer McLean from Healing with the Masters who gives us some excellent advice if you're looking to follow your passion but not sure whether you should leave your career. So, stay tuned.

Natalie: Hi! I'm Natalie Ledwell and this is The Inspiration Show and today my special guest is the beautiful Jennifer McLean. Hi, Jennifer, how are you?

Jennifer: Hello! I'm fabulous! I'm glad to be here.

Natalie: Glad that we finally have you on the show. We've known each other for a long time.

Jennifer: Yes.

Natalie: And it's been quite a while getting you here.

Jennifer: Yeah, it's nice to be here.

Natalie: It's awesome! Okay. Now, for those people that aren't familiar with you and your work, why don't we start a little bit with your background?

Jennifer: Sure.

Natalie: And what it is that you do?

Jennifer: Well, I was born in a small town. No.

Natalie: That's my story.

Jennifer: Oh, okay. Sorry about that. I am known as the host of Healing with the Masters which is one of the largest transformational workshops on the planet. We reached about half a million people in 230 countries and we really help people to discover their light, to find the divinity within again and to be reminded of who they truly are as beings of tremendous power. Prior to that I was actually, I worked in corporate America as a business strategist for many, many years and I was also a healer for 20 years. So, I trained as a healer back in the late 80's or early 90's and they kinda did them in paralleled and then brought it, the both of those things together in Healing with the Masters where I can really facilitate healing. I also have a membership site called MasterWorks Healing Membership site where we, I do coaching with about 25 hundred people a month; I'm doing my own system called body dialoging. So, I'm really in the healing arts, I'm really assisting people in discovering their light and I am a pretty good business strategist that allows the business to run to reach lots and lots of people.

Natalie: Right. Okay. So, corporate and healing, a little bit different. So, what were you always into healing? How did you sort of discovered that path?

Jennifer: Well, I started in the corporate world in advertising. I work for one of the largest national news papers in Canada and I eventually went into promotions and as with most things in life you know, upset happened.

Natalie: Yes.

Jennifer: And I had a physical upset, I had actually a jaw issue and it was terrible, 3 years with a constant headache never went away, migraines 3-5 times a week. It was devastating. And so, I had kinda been in this a little bit of alternative brand that I have my spiritual awakening when I was about 23. So, now I'm about 28, having severe physical issues with this thing and I was in the lobby of a surgeon to fix my jaw and as I was in that lobby this pamphlet kind of made its way, wiggled out from all the books, landed on the floor and I picked it up and it was an alternative root for temporomandibular joint which is the jaw and it was an orthodontist and his wife and he did a plague kinesiology which is muscle testing and she did craniosacral therapy. So, she would do the craniosacral therapy, he would put a splint on my mouth and muscle tested and then shave the splint until it was perfect. The first session I got instant relief.

Natalie: Wow!

Jennifer: And within 3 months I was cured and I'm like "Okay, this is a miracle. Okay, I'm in." So, I went learning craniosacral therapy and that's where it all started.

Natalie: Right.

Jennifer: And so, I had a limiting belief at that time that I couldn't generate enough income as a healer. So, I stayed in corporate America and I also got swept away in the technology launch. I launched Yahoo Canada in 1995. So, I was in the internet, really strongly in the early days and that really captured my imagination. But it also gave me the skills set to then come to a point where I could actually do the healing work and generate great income and reach a lot more people.

Natalie: Yup. Cause that's the thing, I mean of us are now like looking for what our purpose is. You know a lot of us feel like we have a message or something to share but losing the security of our corporate job or you know our daily job is quite you know daunting. What if I actually have some people who are sort of in that position thinking, you know should they quit altogether or should they do both? What do you think?

Jennifer: That's a really great question. I have a very strong opinion about this.

Natalie: Okay, good.

Jennifer: Oh, in 2006 I quit cool turkey. I was completely burnt out. I was done and I quickly went through my savings and I ended up within a year of being two weeks away from living in my car.

Natalie: Right.

Jennifer: From a very healthy 6 figure salary to really honoring my limiting belief that you can't make money as a healer and almost living in my car and so, the recommendation I make a lot is "Don't have your dreams pay your mortgage." So, don't depend on your dream that is just flowering bud that requires a little tent of love and care over it. Don't make it "You have to make money so I can have my dream." That is just not good. So, we have this wonderful thing in the world called the job and I actually think that you can move your energy field, move your level of joy into the job. You can actually look at the job and start appreciating the things that are there. It's giving you a paycheck.

Natalie: Yup.

Jennifer: Its giving you something that's gonna allow you to pay your rent and that peace. And then, think about the things that you're doing that you like and start playing with that and noticing those things and allowing that job to be this wonderful thing that gives you the space to nurture your dreams which is what I did, I went back to work. I went back in the marketing after that 2007. But I now had this established dream of knowing what I really wanted to do and within a year, Healing with the Masters came. I got my salary back up to 6 figures by being a freelancer now in marketing and I only did it for a year and a half. That's it! And then, I was able to leave because the other thing had replaced it.

Natalie: Yup.

Jennifer: So, my advice is "Don't quit your job. Make your job better." Just from a feeling perspective.

Natalie: Yup.

Jennifer: You know, know that you're not gonna be there for the rest of your life but let it support you.

Natalie: Well, a passion's not gonna be a passion if it's surrounded with stress and you know fear and the whole thing you know.

Jenifer: Exactly!

Natalie: Passion has to still have that positive vibration around that for it to flourish into something bigger.

Jennifer: Yeah, yeah. Exactly! So, you know leverage the opportunity that a job can give you and a paycheck can give you.

Natalie: Yeah.

Jennifer: But know that that's its job and appreciate it for that little piece of its job.

Natalie: Awesome!

Jennifer: Yeah.

Natalie: Now, you've been doing Healing with the Masters which is probably one of the original teleseminar series, you've been doing it for about 4-5 years now, right?

Jennifer: Yes, we're on our 11th season so this is our 6th year.

Natalie: Yeah. And honestly one of the most, the elite teleseminar series out there I would have to say and you've had incredible guests like Neale Donald Walsch and Wayne Dyer.

Jennifer: Ram Dass is on the season.

Natalie: Ram Dass like incredible. So, out of all the people that you have interviewed over the time, what would you say was one of your favorite interviews that you did?

Jennifer: You know it's funny but it's hard to say because every single one of them is like "Oh, my god! I can't believe what I just learn or what I just felt" and so, every one of them is just astonishingly great. And I have to say that the times have changed a little bit and so, the shows that have been in the last 2 seasons, I think have been incredibly powerful. And I actually think my favorite was Ram Dass.

Natalie: Right.

Jennifer: And I think the reason the he was my favorite is because every time I think about it, I cry a little bit because he is love.

Natalie: Yeah.

Jennifer: He is love. And when you meet him or when you talk to him, you get it. He gives you, he hands you the gift, the template of what love really feels like, unconditional love really feels like, he hands it to you and you just feel it. Wayne Dyer does that a little bit too and so does, not a little bit but Wayne Dyer does it too. Neale Donald Walsch does it too. Rikka Zimmerman is also one of my favorites and Mary A Hall is also incredible. Oh, my gosh! She has the capacity to hold the entire audience in this field of love and wholeness so, that they can actually feel love and wholeness. And from that place, she takes them into this field of abundance. That is crazy!

Natalie: Yeah.

Jennifer: It's like you don't realize that abundance is a place not a thing.

Natalie: Yeah, yeah.

Jennifer: It's not an emotion, it's a place.

Natalie: Yeah.

Jennifer: It's crazy. And Mary takes you to the place and Ram Dass takes you to the place of love and Wayne Dyer takes you to the place of love and Rikka takes you to the place of oneness and we just have an incredible time, I am the most blessed person on the planet.

Natalie: Right.

Jennifer: Except maybe for you.

Natalie: Yeah. Perhaps except for me. No, we are both very blessed. Cause you know what it's really interesting that you say this because I think there has been a shift in the information. The personal development per say has changed so much.

Jennifer: It's not personal development anyway.

Natalie: No, it's not.

Jennifer: That's why because it's not personal, just personal.

Natalie: Yeah.

Jennifer: We're moving from me to we.

Natalie: Yes.

Jennifer: And that's where we're at now and that's why there's this expansive level of content and these people that are getting together in large groups. You have the same kind of thing going on with your community. When we get together with these large groups and listen to these messages, we together are changing the planet.

Natalie: Yup. It is. And now, vibration's completely separate. We've gone from make a having to make you know plans and goals and led to let me think and now, it's like to "Well, how do I improve myself or how do I expand myself?

Jennifer: Yes, that's it. And bring conscious awareness to who we are. And yeah, I'm not a big fan of goals, never happen. To me they're destination and this life is not about the destination, when it's a destination, when you get there its like "Oh! Okay, now what?"

Natalie: Yeah.

Jennifer: So, now, you play a lot an intention. That's what you guys have always played and intention is it.

Natalie: Yeah.

Jennifer: Cause intention is this or something better.

Natalie: Yeah. I still create a mind movie every year. I still set myself challenges and I do some myself goals. But for me, it's not like I keep wanting more, it's just like "Okay, I enjoyed the journey that much." It's like "Okay, now that one's done. Now, what am I gonna do?" Like I can't decide what's you know.

Jennifer: That's good. Yes, meeting. I still think that you do intentions on that goal. I would call what you do as intentions because a goal is something that's hard and factual and linear.

Natalie: Right.

Jennifer: An intention can look like a goal. But intention is truly something that you say "Okay, I'm gonna plant a seed here and get it watered ever so often but I'm gonna let it grow. I'm just gonna let it grow." A goal doesn't do that. A goal has hard, measurable results. And of course you know you need some goals. You know you're a business person you have that goals. You have to look at what you did last year and see how you've done this year. Its part of it but these broader better ideas, I think are really more energy focused intentions.

Natalie: Yeah. You know it's true because I think behind every goal that, every intention I set, there's this the one intention.

Jennifer: Yes.

Natalie: And that is to be the best teacher I can be, to be able to help facilitate change around the world. So, that's the intention and the energy behind every oath.

Jennifer: Let me ask you a question.

Natalie: Okay.

Jennifer: So, as you have moved to this industry, has have your intentions and maybe your goals move from more of a things you want, to more of a how to be? Cause being a teacher is submission.

Natalie: Yup.

Jennifer: Being a facilitator and a vessel, so to speak of content that changes people's lives is different. Have you found that you've moved more and more into that?

Natalie: Absolutely! I mean, of course you know when we first you know had success with mind movies, you know the original goal, we get a nice car.

Jennifer: Yeah.

Natalie: We get a nice place.

Jennifer: Sure.

Natalie: But we've done it now.

Jennifer: Exactly!

Natalie: So, it's now like "Okay, well that's the material stuffs done and take off." Now, it's a goal, how do we facilitate a change? How can we make an improvement in the world? How can we contribute?

Jennifer: Yes.

Natalie: Even better than what we do.

Jennifer: And here's what's really cool, is that the folks that are listening who may not have that house or that car can actually leap frog right over the top of the things and move straight in, how can I be of service? How can I facilitate change on this planet? And what's so cool is when you facilitate change on the planet; you actually achieved the car and house.

Natalie: Exactly! That mind movies is the first piece that we had where our intention from the very beginning is how can we serve.

Jennifer: Yes. Yes.

Natalie: You know that was the intention from the beginning. Every other business Glen and I had before that was, is a good investment, how much you invest, can we make money, what's our exit strategy the whole thing.

Jennifer: Exactly!

Natalie: You know it's really funny because I actually did an interview; I was interviewed for the happy composed just recently and someone at the goal who interviewed me, asked me, what we see down the line, is there an exit strategy and I'm like "This is the first business we've ever had." And I'm like "No, we don't wanna exit this except much fun. This is awesome!

Jennifer: No, this is for life. This is for life and whether it's this exact business or something else, I feel the same way. This is for life, this is my life-long service.

Natalie: Yup.

Jennifer: I am here to be absolutely of service and I did introduce. You know I wrote a declaration and when I wrote my declaration my whole life changed. And my declaration moved from you know the 2000s, 2000, 2006 I introduced the word service and that's how it started in service.

Natalie: Yup.

Jennifer: I am a conduit, an amplifier to increase perception, to create peace on this planet and that is what changed everything, is being of service just all of it.

Natalie: Yup. Absolutely! Jennifer, thank you so much for joining me today.

Jennifer: Thank you! This has been fun.

Natalie: I know. It's been great, isn't it? So, look, if we wanna send people, some way to find more about you, where can we send them?
