Episode # 104 Fantastic Frank

Frank was caught in a fire over 25 years ago. As Frank laid waiting in rescue, he was overcome by smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning. Frank suffered a TBI or Traumatic Brain Injury. He lost his voice, his fine motor skills and much more...

Frank: This is a life-ending matter. I was trapped in a fire, myself 30 years ago. I was poisoned, I wasn't burned in this fire but I lost my job, I've had bankruptcy twice, I lost my wife, I lost myself for over 20 years, because of the way my mind functioned that I can't remember everything that happened at that time and I guessed I had to go back and this right now is very painful...

I thought I was going to die, I passed out because of the smoke, I overcome and I didn't wake up until 3 or 4, 5 days later. When they trekked tube into my throat, then down into my voice box, so I can't sing the way I used to sing, that's for my children. But, because of my voice shield, I can't sing, that's why I talked to people that they won't trick me, on being dumb or stupid or retarded.

I was a chemical engineer, at Eastern Coat Company. I graduated from 1971, from Carlton College Technology, with a BS in Chemical Engineering, I started working there for 10 years, before I got trapped in a fire... before I was trapped in the fire, I used to think that I was, I was the most important thing, I went my business, I didn't treat people right and because of that, I think god slapped me in the head and said, "Hey, I've got to teach you something about being humble, about people." And that's what happened.

This shall have a smoke, this shall have smoke to touch it, I'll teach you how to get out and you should practice it, eat it, exit doors in your home, a plan that every family should try to, but the most important thing is, you have to be aware of who in the world you have, you have to know in instant what to do, so that means if you are assumed, you have to be waken-up, if you wake up you have to know that what you do, you can't be in hesitation, otherwise you'll gonna be dead or injured, or something else might happen in the end.

I've been on this journey of tough improvement for 25 years now since I've been trapped on fire. I've met Tony Robbins, I've met Dr. Joe Vitale, I've met Dr. Win Glow, I've met Neil Winsor, and everything points to a fact that God had a plan for me. I tried to get up on stage and empower people, inspire people, for the people, I do it right now because I've written a book which is composed of 10 chapters which I give 10 talks to those people I give talks now.

I have to help people, I have to give people the information I've got about one, fire, and secondly, about how to empower people.

Natalie: Hi I'm Natalie Ledwell, and this is the Inspiration Show. And as you can see from the trailer that we just played then, my guest today is the amazing Mr. Fantastic Frank, how are you Frank?

Frank: FANTASTIC.

Natalie: That's wonderful, now the reason I have you on the show is because your story is very, very inspiring, and you basically optimized everything that this show is about. So we saw in the trailer that you had an accident, you were caught in the fire, and that you had some smoke damage, so can you tell us a little bit about how that affected your body and your mind and how you overcome it.

Frank: Well, let me tell you a bit about what happened, I was trapped in the fire, it's like 32 years ago. I wasn't burned, however, I suffered smoke inflation, poisoning which caused me a couple of challenges, one is, I can't write, I know you say, can't do something, you can do it but I have a problem writing. That's the other thing. Then I have some other challenge, one is my voice. My voice box was damaged, I know why to that, my voice box was traded to, it was a double-edged sword, it saved my life but in return, it gave me this voice now, which you are particular, which is conscious or conscious to that. Now my biggest challenge in my life, is whenever I engage to a person, I have to ask myself, is this going to be worth the time and it's gonna worth my time and engage to these person because they are going to judge me of being dumb, or stupid or retarded, I'm not. So that is the biggest fear that I couldn't face right now. Ok, what do you wanna say?

Natalie: What I am saying is that you've had damaged your voice box but you are still very sharp.

Frank: Yes I'm very sharp.

Natalie: And you were a chemist before the fire?

Frank: I was a chemical engineer.

Natalie: Right, okay.

Frank: At Eastern Coat Corporation for 10 years, and then because I wanted to go back to work at Eastern Coat Corp. I took the whole board and had packed into this task, I had to get my job and it was not that easy. I had to jump through some test which I passed, but because of the way, my brain got damaged. I couldn't compromise the skills that I have been given before. So I did get back to work at Eastern Coating but after 2 years, they placed me a disability in 1985. Yes I was no that was at 85. And so I've been labeled as being disabled, I've checked and I am definitely disabled, because definitely disabled causes a minor scars in the brain and you can't figure out what that means, is he disabled or is he able? And cause your brain not to focus on the incident, so I often say, I'm definitely able.

Natalie: So you were in a situation where you can no longer work, you know how do you feel? How do you deal with that situation?

Frank: Well, I know that things... by being disabled by being cognitive to...

Natalie: To find, yes.

Frank: You can take advantage of the system, once I do; I use this as guide to allow me to take advantage of the system. It's a guide that allows me that provide me with people that helped me in the daily basis. I got a huge heading to that, I used every hour that people gave me, because God's got a point to me, I know that. And God gave a little people to my life like you to help me say YES to take advantage in that.

Natalie: Exactly. So you have me saying about your tools. You've been speaking, you do speaking, what is it that you do with your work now?

Frank: Right now, I guild talks. I guild and talk next Wednesday at the YMCA, for their whole meal. That's talk is about retirements, ad Romeo, we'll talk about good omens. But I have to tell people about coping up. I did a talk this morning where I handed a questionnaire, I mean I had 8 people out of 15 saying that what I talked about was amazing. But I had a blow and I feel what I had to tell this people, because I had 8 people who didn't sign. I want them to realize that the way they do anything is the way they do with everything. That could be one of my talks, I could tell them something else, but I want to be in their place if I could.

Natalie: Yep, so what's your message, what is the message that you normally like to inspire other people with?

Frank: You cannot do unless you set your mind to knowing what it is you want to do. Do what you can do, like what I do; I went from a worst guy to being fantastic. I took it overnight, but you took yourself from being Natalie Ledwell to being Mind Movie Princess, Mind Movie Queen. You have to have driven, know what to do, and you will come overcome everything. So my idea is you have to know what you want to do and then you have to go for it. And don't let anyone tell you, you can't do it. And create a remarkable one.

Natalie: That's awesome, and so how is your life now Frank, you know, are you happy? What are the things that you like to do?

Frank: Well I like talking with people, that's all. That's the height that I have come through, I love to talk, I love engaging with people, however, there are some disadvantages when you engage to wrong person, if people don't get what you have to say, you are wrapped into a bad casing. That's why I'm so blessed to be in your Inspiration Show because I know, there's going to be, maybe 15,000, or 20,000 people who are going to see this video, and we all want to stay in good vibration. So it's worthy Natalie. I have comic book, and you have a copy of this don't you?

Natalie: I think I do. Yes!

Frank: I think I gave it to you when I landed from San Diego.

Natalie: That's right.

Frank: This comic book is part of my life. When I grew up, I used to collect comic books. I'm 63 years old, I should be producing the 60th issue of my comic book but that would be impossible. And why it took so long to get my first issue out, so you have to come to the right people to be able to accomplish these things. So my 2nd issue is ready to come out. This comic book is my kids, it's called, The Young and Sport. My message in there is; every kid has a hidden talent and all they have to do to develop that is discover. Kids would have to step it and overcome these challenges along their way to be able to reach their goals. If you deal with kids, it's much easier knowing what their fuss is about than it is to take a 40 or 50 or 60 or 70 year old person who is stuck in their way, who has no job, who does not know what to do, and that's what I'm talking about. So that's what my comic message is.

Natalie: Awesome. You are truly an inspiration, now thank you for joining us today. Do you, where can we send people if they want to find out more about the comic books, and now you've got an amazing e-book called; From Flaw to Fantastic. It was at San Diego, there was you, there was John Assaraf, might back some, you determine that I did heal the wound I got from the fire. Every day, everything happens for a reason.
