5 Things I Learned In 2023

5 Things I Learned In 2023

2023 was a bit of a rollercoaster, don't you think?

I've been chatting with my friends and colleagues, and it seems like we were all in the same boat.

Not to mention inflation rising and the prices of EVERYTHING being so expensive!

So, if you feel the same, you are not alone.

But now, as we step into the new year, I think it's a perfect time to reflect on the valuable lessons that have shaped our journey.

I am sharing five that have had a profound impact on my growth.

Lesson 1: Embracing Change with Open Arms

In 2023, I had a profound revelation about the transformative power of embracing change when I made a significant life move… Moving in with my partner, Bert.

After years of living independently, the decision to share a home felt monumental and, I must admit, a little scary.

However, looking back, it has proven to be one of the most fulfilling and enriching choices I've ever made.

Lesson 2: Surrounding Yourself With People Who Lift You - It’s The Best Therapy

I've been feeling quite stressed lately with a heavy workload and various pressures weighing me down. So, I took a little break and spent a rejuvenating weekend with my girlfriends in Santa Barbara.

What I've come to realize is that when we're overwhelmed and overworked, it can sometimes make everything seem like it's going downhill or incredibly challenging.

But here's the thing, taking a step back or changing your surroundings, even if it's just for a day or two, can work wonders.

Being with people who uplift you and immersing yourself in a different environment can rejuvenate and energize you. It's like hitting the reset button, so you can return ready to face whatever challenges lie ahead.

Lesson 3:  The Power of Shared Values in Relationships and Business

One of the biggest life lessons that's really stuck with me is the significance of having aligned values when you're entering into any kind of partnership, whether it's a personal relationship or a business venture. Your values are like the glue that holds everything together.

This lesson really hit home for me, especially when I think about my partner, Glen. Even though we're not married anymore, we're still able to work together in business and maintain an amazing relationship because our values are in sync.

Lesson 4: Downtime Is Such A Precious Gift

During the Holiday break, my partner Bert and I did some everyday things like going to Costco and grocery shopping. We even made a stew together and watched a movie.

Now, normally, I might have brushed off these activities as mundane, but being with Bert has a way of helping me slow down and truly savor these moments for what they are.

When you can slow down and immerse yourself in the simple pleasures, it's like a breath of fresh air. We drove around Bert's suburban neighborhood, and with all the Christmas lights adorning the houses, it was truly a sight to behold.

These little things, these moments of gratitude and appreciation for the small stuff, they're what make life truly wonderful.

Lesson 5: Teaching Is Learning: Enrichment Through Sharing

In 2023, I had the pleasure of rediscovering the profound truth behind the saying "Teaching is learning".

My focus was on developing our new project: The Mind Movies Coaching Method, designed to empower individuals to become coaches themselves. Through this project, I've come to realize that sharing knowledge with others isn't just about benefiting them; it's a two-way street that enriches my own understanding.

This year drove home a valuable lesson: personal development is a journey we all take together. It's a reminder that growth goes beyond the roles of mentor and student; it's a shared adventure. So, every interaction, every moment of teaching and learning, adds to our collective growth and transformation.
