Enlightening Wisdom For An Abundant, Joyful & Love-Filled Life

Feel The Fear & Do It Anyway! (My Personal Experience)

Feel The Fear & Do It Anyway! (My Personal Experience)

In the many years that I’ve been teaching personal development based on the Law of Attraction, the most crucial concept for my students to overcome is that of limiting beliefs.

Unfortunately, it’s things like limiting beliefs and self-doubt that have the power to hold us back in life if we don’t know how to navigate through them effectively.

So what is a limiting belief? Well, I think it’s safe to say that we’ve all been guilty of giving into emotions and thoughts like:

"I'm not good at this."

"Why even try? I already know I'm going to fail."

"I don't have enough time."

"I'm not good with money."

"I'm not strong enough."

"I don't deserve to be wealthy."

"I'm too old."

"I am not smart enough."

"I just can't handle this."

"Being vulnerable isn't worth the embarrassment."

"Life is hard. That's just how it is."

These are the limiting beliefs that keep us stuck in fear, worry, and doubt, preventing us from doing the things we really want. The inner work in overcoming fear and stepping outside of our comfort zones is something that takes positivity, diligence, and discipline… Things I first learned through experience.

You see, although I’ve spent quite a bit of time working on my own personal development, there’s always room for improvement as we grow and evolve. And sometimes, it’s those new and sudden challenges that have the power to guide us toward the things we truly desire, even when it’s really hard to see at first.

And that’s exactly why I want to do things a little differently today and share a personal experience of my own. I truly hope this story resonates with you in some way.

The last time a limiting belief held me back from something truly wonderful all started in the middle of a surprise phone call I received from the Dean of Real Sociale University in Colombia.

The Dean actually had previously heard of my work in the personal development space and wanted me to design an official personal growth curriculum for kids.

I was shocked!

On the one hand, I was so incredibly honored and in awe of the fact that they wanted me for this project.

But on the other, I was thinking, “What do I even know about kids?”

And my entire mood totally shifted.

You see, I had no formal background in education, and in fact, I had left school at 15 myself! How could I possibly create something of true value, knowing there are already so many experts out there who have probably done better?

My mindset went from,“What am I about to get myself into?”

To, “Am I even be able to do this?”…

To, “I don’t know if I can do this…”

It was that moment of complete self-doubt that my limiting beliefs were totally taking over. I started to get nervous. I started to sweat. And I instantly felt like the pressure of an ask like this was just too much for me to handle.

So before I could blurt out something I'd later regret, I told the Dean that I would think about it, and I hung up.

Deep down, I knew I couldn’t let this opportunity pass me by. And deep down, I knew I really, really wanted this. But I was still worried that I couldn’t live up to the imaginary expectations I had set for myself.

So I spent the next few days working on the limiting beliefs that showed up during that phone call. No matter how uncomfortable it made me, I was determined to get past this because I knew an opportunity like this was rare.

I had to do the inner work to see for myself that I was completely worthy of this opportunity. I was able to pinpoint a number of limiting beliefs relating to feeling unworthy and made a conscious decision to deactivate them.

During that phone call, my limiting beliefs and self-doubt nearly blocked my success. So I had to turn the magnifying glass on myself and consciously wipe out those self-sabotaging feelings.

And the result? My mind went into overdrive! I started feeling a lot better about the project as I saw challenges now as opportunities. And I even found a friend who could help me out: a teacher specializing in early age curriculums!

So I called the Dean back, and a few months later… I was headed to Colombia!

And now, thousands of kids in Colombia get to go through the personal growth curriculum I designed for them. And it's all because I consciously tackled my limiting beliefs. I shifted to a growth mindset and overcame something I didn’t think was possible.

No matter where you’re at in life, we may be faced with new challenges and opportunities that have the potential to be life-changing. So I share this story to remind you that our limiting beliefs may appear in different ways throughout our lifetime, which is why it’s so important to have the tools and mindset to identify and immediately address them when they arise.

So I hope that our story-time together can help ignite that spark in you to break free from the self-sabotaging, limiting beliefs holding you back. Because if you are feeling undeserving, just know that you really are absolutely deserving of whatever it is you truly want in life… I promise.
