"Life of Pi" Author Reveals to PBS.org That The Inspiration For His Best-Selling Book And Now Hit Film Came From A Little Known Book About A Shipwrecked German Boy

"Life of Pi" author Yann Martel reveals how reading a novel about a German boy in a boat with a panther and his searching for direction became the inspiration for his best-selling novel that's since been turned into the hit film released this year. Law of Attraction guru and Mind Movie co-founder Natalie Ledwell shares how she was able to direct and create her perfect life story through the use of a movie as well.

Personal growth through adversity is a theme of “Life of Pi,” the best-selling book and now hit film which tells the tale of a 16-year-old son of zookeepers, Pi, who becomes shipwrecked after his family’s boat sinks as it carries them and their animals from India to a new life in North America. Yann Martel reveals in a recent interview posted on the PBS website with PBS’s Ray Suarez the original inspiration for, and manifestation of, the book and movie.

“The premise came to me from reading a review of a Brazilian novel by a man named Moacyr Scliar, which I read about 12 years ago. And it struck me that that's a good premise. I could do something with that. Then I forgot about it. About seven years later I was in India, and India is a country with a lot of animals and a lot of religion And I was a bit lost there, too,” shares Martel.

“I was sort of wondering, ‘What am I doing in life? I've written two books, but they haven't really done well.’ So I was sort of looking for a story, not only with a small 's' but sort of with a capital 's.' Something that would direct my life.”

“Often the inspiration to make positive changes in our lives comes from places we least expect,” shares Law of Attraction Guru and Mind Movies co-founder Natalie Ledwell.

Ledwell believes we can create our own “Mind Movie” to direct our life story and deal with adversity. A few years ago, Ledwell felt her own destiny had few options. She pictured herself living a better life and, in her quest to do so, she discovered the Law of Attraction.

“The more you direct your attention on living the life you want to lead, the more people, events and opportunities will inevitably be attracted towards you. Soon, the life that you spend your time focusing on becomes your reality,” says Ledwell.

Ledwell learned that by creating and repeatedly viewing a Mind Movie - a digital vision board or short, powerful movie filled with uplifting images and photos, positive present tense affirmations and emotionally inspiring music -something magical begins to happen. A Mind Movie works with the psychology of the brain and allows you to choose your own perfect life and then kicks your subconscious mind into gear and the Law of Attraction into overdrive to deliver that life.

Over 1 million people worldwide have already received Natalie Ledwell’s free pre-made Mind Movies, which are dynamic moving video vision boards that help viewers visualize and achieve their desires and goals faster and easier than they ever thought possible.
