Today, we share a guest post from blogger and multi-award winning professional coach, Lori Karpman.
Often when people hear the term “Law of Attraction” (LOA), they respond with comments such as “no such thing” or “it’s all hooey”.
However, for us believers, it is a life-altering concept that can provoke profound positive (or negative) change in our lives.
According to Wikipedia, the Law of Attraction is the belief that by focusing on positive (or negative) thoughts a person brings those experiences into their life.
It is based on the idea that thoughts are made up of pure energy and that through the process of "like energy attracting like energy" we can improve our life in the areas of health, wealth and personal relationships.
The LOA was originally taught to the immortal Buddha who wanted us to understand that ‘what you have become is what you have thought’.
This led to the western concept of karma, or in English, “what goes around comes around”. What you put out into the world is ultimately what you will receive in return.
Put out love and kindness and you will get kindness, put out anger and you will get distress and conflict.
In the simplest sense, the LOA is about choosing what you want to achieve, feeling the emotions associated with already having it, and then letting go of any expectations. It's like putting an order in at a restaurant - once you have done it, you have no reason to be anxious because you know your order is on the way.
It is essential to “feel” as if your desire has been fulfilled as it is this that truly connects us to the LOA. For example, if you want to have $1,000,000 in the bank, then you must imagine and really feel what it would be like to be a millionaire.
Where would you live, drive, vacation, own? When you do this, it is like putting in your order with the Universe, which will then respond in kind. Feel wealthy to attract wealth. Like energy attracts like energy.
Beginning with the theory that what we focus on grows, the LOA is the ability to attract into our lives whatever we are focusing on.
The LOA uses the power of the mind to translate whatever is in our thoughts and materialize them into reality. If you focus on negative doom and gloom you will remain under that cloud. If you focus on positive thoughts, and have goals that you aim to achieve, you will find a way to achieve them, provided you act.
And therein lies the key to its success: massive action.
If you want to be a millionaire, you must take action and set goals on how to reach $100,000 first and perform tasks that can realize that reality.
The LOA does not just drop good fortune into your lap because you ask for it.
Attracting is not a substitute for action.
When we choose to utilize the LOA, we are choosing to manipulate our reality. By choosing positive emotions, such as joy and abundance, we are telling the universe that we want more of these feelings in return.
A key component of the philosophy is that to effectively change a negative thinking pattern, you must also "feel" that the desired changes have already occurred in your life.
Meditation, visualization, and affirmations power the Law of Attraction.
The use of meditation and visualization are extremely effective in triggering the images in our mind that create those feelings needed to trigger the LOA to act in our favor.
Affirmations (such as repeating to yourself daily over and over, “I have a life of abundance, I have more money than I will ever need”) send an order to the Universe to deliver opportunities to create wealth, not the winning lotto numbers!
So, we need to replace limiting or self-destructive negative thoughts (such as: “I will never make enough money”, or “money is too stressful for me”) for positive ones and then act as if it has already occurred.
It is the combination of positive thought and positive emotion that "attracts" positive experiences and opportunities by resonating with the same level of energy as the LOA.
So ask yourself, what do I truly want to feel?
If you are looking for a mate, you want to feel loved and appreciated, if you are after a new car, then you probably want to feel abundance. Once you identify the emotion, practice that feeling until it becomes your new reality.
The most challenging part of acknowledging and accepting the truth about the LOA, is coming to the realization that every single one of your experiences in life, good and bad, have been shaped by your thoughts, conscious or unconscious.
This can be a very bitter pill to swallow, especially if you feel that you have been dealt a bad hand in life. However, once you have truly come to understand and accept that premise, the LOA will renew your hopes and give you courage even in the face of overwhelming fear, worry or negativity.
Quantum Physics brings you closer to your dreams.
The advances in quantum physics in the last decade have shed much light on the incredible power of the LOA to change our lives. We have gained a lot of knowledge about the power the mind has to heal our bodies and bring about desired realities.
A friend of mine who is a medal winning Olympic athlete says that athletes truly believe in their heart and soul that they can win gold. They visualize being on the podium with the gold medal being placed around their neck.
You don’t need to understand how quantum physics creates the LOA, but just believe that it can work for you.
The LOA is a force of nature whether you choose to believe, that is, utilize it or not. The Universe responds to our thoughts and feelings, and by using our thoughts positively, we create positive outcomes as the Universe is constantly rearranging itself to match our expectations.
The Law of Attraction really is that simple – no catches.
No matter what you are looking to have, achieve, or be in life, can be realized provided you can see and hold the images in your mind’s eye. Then, with the proper effort and action you can make it come true.
It’s comforting to know that the Universe is always on your side and wants us to win. The more you dedicate yourself to learning about it and using its power effectively, the more fulfilling and rewarding your life will be. There are no limits or boundaries to what you can achieve so long as you can believe in and trust the natural law of abundance.
