How My Marriage Has Lasted 15 Wonderful Years

February is around the corner and I can already see storefronts full of hearts, teddy bears, chocolates, and flowers to promote Valentine's Day.

While I enjoy celebrating the holiday, it's important to not get caught up in the materialistic aspects of it all and to remember what's being celebrated.

And that is... love! So in the spirit of Valentine's Day and experiencing eternal love with your partner, I want to share what I do to keep my marriage alive after 15 wonderful years :)

Here it goes...

1) Always be considerate towards your partner. This truly shows them how much you love them. For example, when I order my lunch I check on my husband Glen to see if he wants something too. Or even something little, if there's one cookie or piece of food left - I give it to him.

2) Respect Your Partner. It's really important to respect your partner as a person, because without respect you don't have love.

3) Make each other proud! Don't just do things for your own fulfillment, but try and be the best person you can be, not only for yourself, but for your partner too!

4) Acknowledge each others achievements. When your partner does something great, let them know! Tell them that you are proud of them, compliment their new haircut, and show them you notice what they are doing, and that you like it. This will ultimately make them feel special and great about themselves.

I'll be honest, I'm not a guru in relationships or love, but I hope my 15 year marriage serves as a testament to the validity behind these tips! And I hope you try them out and always strive to be the best partner (and person) you can be :)
