Enlightening Wisdom For An Abundant, Joyful & Love-Filled Life

Stop stress and anxiety

Don't Let Your Anxiety Get The Best Of You

Your palms get sweaty, your heart is racing and your mind can't slow down.

Everyone experiences some sort of anxiety at one point or another. For some it's a debilitating fear of flying, speaking on stage or perhaps it comes on right before you fall asleep. Anxiety attacks or obsessive thinking can happen when you least expect, and it can feel like the walls are closing in on you.

What's important to remember is that you can actually control these anxiety-ridden thoughts so they happen less frequently or stop happening altogether.

So let's say you have a hard time falling asleep because your mind is racing about your day’s past events. Maybe you're even thinking about what you need to do tomorrow or perhaps there's a stressful situation that's been nagging away at you.

In these situations, here's what you need to do to slow down your mind:

- Set aside a time of the day to "think it out": If you have a lot going on, set aside a specific time to ponder on things, make productive plans or even write down the top 3 things plaguing your mind, and write down SOLUTIONS to them as well.

- Clear Your Mind: You need to give your mind a break. When your mind is overworked it's possible anxiety will creep in, because you're not giving it a second to rest. So set aside 10 minutes to sit in silence, take a yoga class or go on a nice walk in nature.

- Breathing Exercises: Our breath is such a powerful tool within us. You can send rejuvenating life into your mind by taking slow, deep breaths and allowing yourself to calm down, and relax. When you feel the walls are closing in, close your eyes and take a few deeps breaths while consciously visualizing positive experiences. This will allow you to take a step back from the current situation and look at the bigger picture. Breath is an extremely powerful way to control anxiety and erase nagging thoughts.

- Get Yourself Into State: To get yourself into your optimal state at any time, you need to take a moment where you're cool, calm and collected, and create a trigger for this feeling. So next time you're in a calm state, do something like grab your wrist, snap your fingers or pinch yourself. Then the next time you feel your nerves taking over, do the same exact action. This will trigger your subconscious mind to calm down, and help your anxiety melt away.

If you have any other strategies that help you get over anxiety please share them below. I have to say, I really love when I see chatter happening below in the comment box. I especially love when you are responding to one another trying to lift each other up. So thank you VERY much if you ever comment OR write to someone else in the comment section, I really appreciate it.
