6 Tips That Will Inspire You To Live A Holistic Lifestyle

The way of life for many people starts every morning with rushing to work, running errands, grabbing a quick bite (usually unhealthy foods)… and by the end of the day, they’re so tired and exhausted, they have no energy to work out or go to the gym…

Does this sound familiar at all?

But what’s worse than the stress that comes along with this, is that this kind of lifestyle can often lead to illness and depression.

If you’d like to transform yourself this year… why not embrace a new and more holistic lifestyle?

Now being holistic is not just about eating organic food and practicing yoga, it’s a lifestyle where you actively look to remove anything that’s toxic from your life.

It’s not just about losing weight, but it’s about learning how to make conscious healthy choices every day.

If you’d like to commit yourself to being healthy from the inside out, then here are 6 healthy tips that you can apply today:

Health Tip #1: Eat superfoods with every meal.

Salmon, kale, avocado, flax seeds, chia seeds, hemp, blueberries, quinoa, spinach and apples are just a few examples.

These foods not only contain important nutrients and antioxidants that your body needs, but they also help you to cleanse and strengthen your immune system, so you can fight infections easily and recover from illnesses faster.

Avoid: Hydrogenated oils (or trans fats) in your foods. Most snacks, margarine and baked goods are made with this harmful ingredient. So read food labels and do your best to prevent yourself from eating them. :)

Health Tip #2: Try holistic, natural remedies.

Ginger, garlic, vitamin C and Zinc are ideal for fighting colds and flus. Honey, arnica and tea tree oil have antibacterial agents ideal for cuts and scrapes.

Acupuncture is used to treat hormonal imbalances and herbs are a great way to detox and boost your energy.

Avoid: Antibiotics and conventional medicine… Even though antibiotics are designed to help you stay healthy, its harmful substances can also affect your organs over time. Although in some instances they will be necessary, try sticking to natural remedies as much as possible for holistic health & healing.

Health Tip #3: Cook at home more often.

Try steaming and slow cooking foods to preserve the food’s nutrients. Also, cooking from scratch will allow you to have control over what you’re putting in your mouth and body.

By cooking at home you’ll not only be saving money, but you’ll also cut down on unnecessary calories.

Avoid: Using your microwave, which is bad for many reasons:

First, you’re most likely using it to cook a frozen dinner or make popcorn, which are bad for your health as they are high in calories and they’re loaded with preservatives.

Second, because the type of heat they produce strips away the nutrients of your meal.

And third, because they release harmful toxins into your food which are absorbed by your body.

Health Tip #4: Use natural, unscented products when possible.

The skin is the largest organ in the body and everything that you put on your skin is absorbed into the bloodstream, so make sure your personal care products use natural ingredients.

Avoid: Environmental toxins… Try not to put anything on your skin that you wouldn’t feel comfortable eating!

Health Tip #5: Break a sweat!

Every time you exercise you’re not only getting rid of excess weight, but you’re also eliminating toxins and helping your body with digestion, circulation, and keeping all of your organs functioning properly.

Plus, you’re releasing serotonin, dopamine and endorphins which are hormones that will make you feel a lot happier and more relaxed.

Avoid: Sitting for too many hours without stretching, walking or breathing in fresh air.

Health Tip #6: Adopt ways to manage stress and practice them daily.

Did you know that weight gain, illnesses and lack of energy are mostly due to stress?

Well it’s true, and in order to practice a truly healthy lifestyle, it’s important that you learn to manage it.

Meditating, practicing yoga and consciously deep breathing are a few good examples to keep your stress levels in check.

Remember that vibrant health starts from within.

Avoid: Although stress sometimes arises from situations outside of our control, it’s important to avoid situations that can cause it. Not managing your time, not planning your day, not sleeping enough hours or doing more things than you can handle at the same time, could contribute to increased stress.

As you can see, adopting a holistic lifestyle doesn’t require drastic or dramatic changes; it’s more about adopting new, good habits that will have a positive impact on your life.
